The most important criterion for IETLS writing evaluation is task achievement. It means that the essays the IELTS students write should be an exact response to the topic given. No deviations are allowed. What the IELTS test takers should do while taking the test is to read the essay topic slowly and understand exactly what it really is about. Often students read the topic (question) once and, in most cases, they think that they have completely understood it. However, in reality, this may not be the case. The topic might have specified something the student might have overlooked. Such a student cannot achieve the task and their score would suffer.

B-GHUD (Mavelikara and Cochin) has identified this problem of the students and having the experience of the students and having the experience of being the best IELTS training centre in Kerala, has come up with an innovative coaching method. The chapter, “How to find the question in the question” in our book, “IELTS Writing Made Easy,” (pages 12 to 18) is exclusively written to make the students aware of the possible mistakes they may commit and to help them to avoid them.

With a view to making the above problem clearer, a few examples are cited here.

  1.  Education is the single most important factor in the development of a country. To what extent do you agree?

It must be noted that the question is not about education in general, but whether it is the single most important factor in the development of a nation. The essay should focus and discuss whether it is the only important one in the priority of a nation. The different aspects of education need not be written. Whether the question is to agree or disagree, or to what extent you agree, it is better that others’ views are stated as well. If I were you, I would argue that education is one of the most important factors since areas like infrastructure, developmental social security schemes, law and order and health care are also vital for the development of a nation.

  1.  Progress is always good. Do you agree or disagree with the statement?

It must be borne in mind that here the focus of the question is not progress, but whether progress is ALWAYS good. It is generally agreed that progress or development is good. But is it good always? Here, read between the lines and discuss whether the process of development has any negative impact. Then either totally agrees or totally disagree or partially agree that progress is always good or

progress disturbs the ecological balance and reduces the quality of life. Or, it may also be argued that progress has both positive and negative impacts. Here, your introduction should contain the statement of your viewpoint. And in your conclusion, you should restate whether you agree or not to convince the reader effectively. Note that this is an agree or disagree question.

You would undoubtedly agree that the above feature in our book is unique and that it goes a long way in assisting the IELTS students to understand the question in its proper perspective and write essays accordingly to score high in the IELTS test. It is this and similar feats that make B-GHUD much sought after. No wonder B-GHUD has, over the decades, been labelled as the top IELTS coaching centre in Kerala or as the No.1 IELTS training institute in India!
