The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, is an international standardized test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is managed by the IDP. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world.
The IELTS listening sections are divided into four parts. Each section has 10 questions and is heard once only totalling 40 questions for the listening test. You have time to look through the questions before you listen, and also time to check your answers after each section. The time for the test is 40 minutes. The listening takes 30 minutes, but you then have 10 minutes to answer. The listening test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training modules.
The IELTS test can be a bit challenging if you are prepared enough. Also, to score well, it is important that you start your preparation well in time. It is a three hour test that evaluates you on all four language skills – listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
