Qn: Nowadays, celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Name and fame is achieved by sheer hard work, dedication and devotion, which can only make an individual famous. There is a notion that many professionals are more renowned for their glamour and affluence and this misleads the adolescents. This essay disagrees to the above proposition, which would be substantiated by citing suitable examples.

At the outset, to be successful and to be an accomplished movie star, one needs perseverance, sustained practices, and nurture many talents. To substantiate, Sylvester Stallone, and Amitabh Bachhan have faced many setbacks but had to surmount them to reach the pinnacle of success. Not only they had to adhere to strict diet regimen but also carry out strenuous physical work-outs to maintain their physique and psyche; hence stardom. Thus, the fact is that image and
reputation can not be achieved overnight and many are role models to the youth.

To continue, sport icons have to practise regularly to win the game and to remain in the limelight. To illustrate, Leonel Messi , Mary Kom and M S Dhoni might have burnt midnight oil to grab the position they have achieved today and be celebrities. This again vindicates my stand that renowned professionals are famous because of their sustained efforts rather than their power and pelf. Nevertheless, there are many who are notoriously popular for their beauty and financial status instead of merits. Although, this appears to be convincing, it can not be generalized and agreed to as a universally acceptable truth.

Overall, it is disagreed that many highly successful personalities are famous because of their glamour and wealth. They are celebrities because of personal achievements as film hero heroines and sports icons achieve status by dogged determination and dedication. It is hoped that the youth would consider successful and popular celebrities as their role models.
