The difference between countries is becoming less and less evident as people all over the world wear the same fashion, watch the same TV channels and have similar eating habits. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages? With the advent of globalization, there have been remarkable changes witnessed of late, in the likes, dislikes and preferences of people, the world over, especially in their lifestyle. Noticeably, different cultural elements of communities get integrated into indigenous cultural practices, thus leading to a uniformity in practice among peoples of different backgrounds. This essay is an attempt to compare and contrast both the brighter aspects as well as the negative sides of this trend. On the brighter side, this prevalent trend of following similar patterns of lifestyle, relating to cosines, costumer and habits unifies individuals regardless of their racial and ethnic differences, in results, leading to an amalgamation of global culture. This would, in turn, result in easing the conflicting between countries and communities having differences in their beliefs and interests, which, as it turns out, would strengthen the relationship between nations and would facilitate global trade and commerce. Likewise, the cultural integration of foreign elements into certain indigenous communities is most likely to introduce positive changes, as it instills rationality among individuals by equipping them to reflect on the existing primitive and regressive elements in practice, with the wisdom acquired through global exposure. For instance, T.V channels of global media have been greatly influential in spreading progressive thoughts and eliminating social stigmas prevailing in many parts of the world. On top of it, international travelers, students and businessman are greatly benefited due to he standardization of work culture and lifestyle, especially with the exposure they have to global norms, food culture and etiquettes, that would reduce the culture shock when abroad. In contrast, it could also be noticed that due to this narrowing of differences, certain cultural practices that form the core elements of a community’s identity get diluted and are eventually replaced by a more standardized and globally accepted norm , it is worth mentioning even while admitting all these ideal effects that this trend is also causing to diminish the importance of those native food preparation methods, traditional pastime activities and traditional costumes, which, in comparison with the promising effects, is negligible. In brief, it becomes evident that the current trend of standardized lifestyle in terms of food, dress and preferences of individuals has brought about a number of desirable effects globally, while it is true that there are some unpleasant outcomes as well. Overall, it is fair to say that the merits of this significantly outweigh the demerits.
Full-time university students should do other activities instead of spending most of their time studying. Do you agree or disagree?

Full-time university students should do other activities instead of spending most of their time studying. Do you agree or disagree? The world, today, has undoubtedly turned into a highly competent one, where, in order to secure a bright career, one has to learn specific skills, and graduate from a university or a college. To materialize this, a number of subjects have to be learnt, following a hectic curriculum. Meanwhile, it is also important for full-time university students to engage in activities such as community works and part-time jobs, rather than being completely immersed in acquiring theoretical knowledge. For a start, university students, often having to focus on a wide range of subjects, hardly find time to equip themselves with a number of soft skills which are highly essential both in life and career. While participating in activities such as community works, they tend to have a platform for exposure with the outer world, examples for which are community welfare projects and household surveys by graduates in social work. In such instances, they would develop a set of skills including communication skills and the sense of team spirit; eventually, these youngsters are likely to become acquainted with the world where they have to apply the theories that they learned in textbooks. Likewise, students giving too much emphasis only on academic subjects are mostly observed to become introvert in nature, who give prominent importance to scoring more marks. This would probably put them under tremendous pressure. As such, participation in extra-curricular activities and other recreations seems to help them vent their stress as well as ease the learning process, thus rendering it more interesting. In brief, although most of the university courses extensively focus on academic aspects trivializing others, engaging in extra-curricular activities appears to be of utmost importance which should be followed rather than spending most time on studies.
Essay Topic – Some companies sponsor sports as a way to advertise themselves.

Here is an essay written by Mr. O. Varghese, IELTS Manager, B-GHUD ACADEMY, as per the request of a student as part of our IELTS coaching in Kerala. QN. Some companies sponsor sports as a way to advertise themselves. Some people think it is good while others think there are in disadvantages. Discuss both views and state your opinion. Global sport is a multi-million dollar industry and many corporates vie one another to bag publicity by spending money for its conduct. Many are of the view that MNCs bearing the expenditure of conducting such events is right but others argue that it has demerits. Both these contrasting viewpoints are examined in this essay before stating my opinion. On one hand, large conglomerates sponsoring mega sports events get wide publicity of their products through audio-visual media besides illuminated billboards and banners at the venue. To elaborate, Pepsico International has been incurring millions for organizing international cricket matches. Carbonated beverages produced by the company are not only advertised but also these are freely distributed to the participants which ensure wide acceptance for the same. Thus, such sponsoring of sports tournaments elicit media coverage to the company in particular and the game in general. On the other hand, such companies select and support only sports events which are popular and have wide viewership. This paves the path for other regional sports and sportsmen to be ignored who find it difficult to achieve financial support and global exposure. It is in evidence on record that athletes of lesser known events either find it hard to survive or to participate in costly competitions because multinational corporates sponsor only games of high repute. Many clippings on television news channels and radio news would substantiate my contention. Hence, it is can be stated that companies have been promoting certain sports only for their own benefit. Having critically examined both perspectives, it is unambiguously opined that large business houses have been sponsoring sports only for self- aggrandizement. Such promotions deny opportunities for less popular sports and games; thereby many sportsmen get ignored. It is hoped that right-thinking entrepreneurs would extend support to financially weak athletes irrespective of their sport or game.
Essay Topic – Celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements

Here is an essay written by Mr. O. Varghese, IELTS Manager, B-GHUD ACADEMY, as per the request of a student as part of our IELTS coaching in Kerala. Qn: Nowadays, celebrities are more famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree ? Name and fame is achieved by sheer hard work, dedication and devotion, which can only make an individual famous. There is a notion that many professionals are more renowned for their glamour and affluence and this misleads the adolescents. This essay disagrees to the above proposition, which would be substantiated by citing suitable examples. At the outset, to be successful and to be an accomplished movie star, one needs perseverance, sustained practices, and nurture many talents. To substantiate, Sylvester Stallone, and Amitabh Bachhan have faced many setbacks but had to surmount them to reach the pinnacle of success. Not only they had to adhere to strict diet regimen but also carry out strenuous physical work-outs to maintain their physique and psyche; hence stardom. Thus, the fact is that image and reputation can not be achieved overnight and many are role models to the youth. To continue, sport icons have to practise regularly to win the game and to remain in the limelight. To illustrate, Leonel Messi , Mary Kom and M S Dhoni might have burnt midnight oil to grab the position they have achieved today and be celebrities. This again vindicates my stand that renowned professionals are famous because of their sustained efforts rather than their power and pelf. Nevertheless, there are many who are notoriously popular for their beauty and financial status instead of merits. Although, this appears to be convincing, it can not be generalized and agreed to as a universally acceptable truth. Overall, it is disagreed that many highly successful personalities are famous because of their glamour and wealth. They are celebrities because of personal achievements as film hero heroines and sports icons achieve status by dogged determination and dedication. It is hoped that the youth would consider successful and popular celebrities as their role models. (If you are ready to write impressive essays, please send it us.
